Nihat Ozdal
Author of four books of poetry, NIHAT OZDAL is the winner of the Mehmet Fuat Poetry Award, the Homeros Poetry Prize, and the Golden Laurel Literary Award. His work has also been published in numerous magazines. Born in Halfeti, on the edge of the Southeast region of Turkey some 60 kilometers from the famous Roman city of Zeugma, Ozdal has a visceral relationship with the local environment and still lives in the old town, which was half flooded by the waters of the Ataturk Dam. Though he still lives in the area, Ozdal’s work ranges through the cosmopolitan world of salt water and longitude and latitude with a startling precision in his imagery.
In addition to being a poet, he is a visual performance artist and works in a variety of interdisciplinary areas, from Gastronomy to music and museology. He has presented his work in many places around the world and been published in 26 languages.
